Apple sauce is an apple puree that is a quick and easy accompaniment to usually a main course, or dessert.

Method

Peel, core and slice the apples, then stew them gently in water with the lemon rind and sugar.

When the apples are tender, puree in a blender or with a stick blender.

Add the butter, then reheat and serve.
